Talk:Symbols

On this page I'll explain the process I went through to figure out these instances.

Below is my smorgasboard of symbols and strings that we've currently found (all located on Symbols. I took the two chunks of script from the HFH.com title image, aligned them, and started comparing symbols. (the two grey blocks to the left center).

Noticing some repeated patterns, I started blocking off strings of symbols, and colour coded them to determine repeating patterns and whatnot. What I found was that all the phrases we've seen so far in various images, have been used to some degree in the HFH.com title image. There also seemed to be a pattern for the horizontally flipped strings. Image:symbol_strings.jpg

I then figured that maybe these strings were all consecutive - that there was a start and an end, at the same point, as if the strings were all in some fashion wrapped around a sphere (such as the occulus). The reversed strings in a line might be flipped to be read from the opposing face. Noticing the similarities of string positions between the two script blocks, I realized they were two copies of the same script block, but each extended beyong visible bounds. So I combined (below) the two block to show the best of both worlds, the best representation of the symbols overall. Image:symbol_collage1.jpg

From that point, I decided to work the other way, and actually create a collage of the strings by copying the symbols from individual images overtop of the HFH script, and hopefully make seeing a pattern that much easier. I added in a couple of visual guides, since some symbols I couldn't find on the other images, but were themselves repeated in the script, and there were points where the strings seemed to mirror.

  • The brown squares show sections that were repeated on the script, but not found (yet) in a separate image.
  • the green squares show symbols or strings that either haven't been found, or are unreadable
  • the blue lines show 'mirror' points, where it seems that either end is reflected to a certain length.
  • aso note that the 'Corbett' and chalk board rune strings are both split, while all others at this point, remain whole

Now, given the newspaper article that Miss Vix scanned for her July 31 blog entry, which mentions the existence of Faith's Lexicon of symbols/runes/designs, my guess is the HFH Title image is actually her lexicon, and in some way is related directly to, or an application of, the occulus (orb) symbols.

While there is no translation, it almost seems as if these repeated and reflected strings of runes may be a list of names - this is due to the fact that Aaron's name appears (almost) alone in the lower left of the script.

I'll probably scan through the ocular effect vision and see if there are some other 'missing strings' to fill in the blanks...

I am such a nerd. I look at these, and the first thing that I saw was Tengwar. Seriously, I can point out specific letters from Tengwar, and the vowels, etc, etc. I'm at work right now, so I can't exactly translate what I can, or make an image of it, but this has my attention, and several emails in my inbox. If I can remember, I'll make up an image of one of the other images trying to translate it. I'm entertained and annoyed at the same time at the use of Tengwar in this. I'll do what I can later, when I have GIMP on a computer. --panacea

Well, see what you can come up with. Anything's good. It was brought up though that the symbols do bare resemblance to both enochian and LOTR (tengwar)... and neither are totally similar. At this point no one has found an exact match for the language, and there's really no rason to connect Fallen with LOTR or tengwar as the language. But again, whatever research you can do is better than no research at all :) and it can lead to big new ideas. Go for it :) --thebruce 16:27, 4 August 2006 (MDT)
