Current revision
The 'Oculus' was referred to originally as an opening to peer through, leading to the Rabbithole site 00112358.net.
It can be considered a synonym for a 'looking glass' in the case of ARGs, as a nod to Alice in Wonderland, and a well-known phrase to ARGers defining the lead-in process or event to the ARG itself - the alternate reality.
