Looking back at Tampa

August 17, 2006 12:25pm

I had a lot of time to think and write on the planes. Stopover in at LAX and thought I would post up the rest of my photos looking back at Tampa.

What a weird place full of expressways and palm trees. As far as I can tell people just drive at break neck speed - not many people noticing me on the side of the road with my thumb stuck out. I spent a fortune on taxis but it’s okay - it lead me to Kriel and to Madam Steph who’ve helped me find my next journey. Thanks to everyone who helped me research the next step in this journey.

I tell you though there is something amazing about being in totally different environment. All the little familiar things that you normally count on and take for granted are gone. It takes you a bit out of your head because you have to pay attention to everything you do. I think I kind of need that.

I was going through my photos from Tampa when I noticed this amazing coincidence from a photo I took in Gibsonton (aka Gibtown). I was taking a picture of this truck in somebody’s yard with this beautiful old faded circus image on it. It’s only later that I noticed the name on the mailbox. Arella! No relation, just another coincidence - It’s not an uncommon name and it was actually given to me by some nuns when I was a baby. Either way, I feel for sure it’s a sign that I’m on the right track.
